Vol 11, No 2 (2023) published

2023-12-31

The Co-Editors-in-Chief, Professor Neo Morojele and Associate Professor Anne-Marie Laslett are pleased to announce the release of the second issue of Volume 11 of the International Journal of Alcohol and Drug Research (IJADR). The second and final issue for 2023 consists of papers all of which concern the theme of alcohol surveys. The focus  of  the first  paper is  on  methodological  issues pertaining to a survey on alcohol’s harms to others which originated in Australia. The remaining papers describe  studies  which used surveys to  measure predictors  and patterns  of  alcohol  consumption in South Africa; patterns of alcohol consumption during the COVID-19  pandemic  in  Switzerland;  and patterns  of  alcohol  consumption  and  drunk-driving  related harm in Tanzania. The  papers  involve studies  conducted  in  diverse settings,  and  in  this issue they include both  high-income (Australia   and   Switzerland)   and   middle-income   (South Africa and Tanzania) countries.

As mentioned in our Editorial we are continuing to work towards the production of our Special Issue in 2023, with the theme of: Alcohol Prevention Research and Policy Development in LMICs: Facilitating Partnerships, Capacity and Impact.  Our second Special issue is the inaugural “KBS 2023 Annual Symposium Issue”. We hope it will become a tradition for IJADR to publish an issue dedicated to papers presented at each annual KBS Symposium. We have extended the deadline for submitting your articles from the 2023 KBS symposium to 26 January 2024.

We continue to seek submissions to IJADR for our regular issue to publish and promote social and epidemiological research on alcohol and other drugs, and foster comparative understanding of substance use and substance problems.
