Vol 12, No 1 (2024) published
The Co-Editors-in-Chief, Associate Professor Anne-Marie Laslett and Professor Neo Morojele and are pleased to announce the release of the first issue of Volume 12 of the International Journal of Alcohol and Drug Research (IJADR). This first regular issue for 2024 consists of four diverse papers. The first two are about the ways in which COVID-19 impacted our lives and the ways in which we responded, focusing on aspects of both industry and treatment service reactions. The third paper is grimly topical in Australia, focusing on alcohol-related intimate partner violence — finding more harm was reported by women than men from an intimate partner who was intoxicated. The final paper in this issue draws attention to alcohol consumption and its contribution to workplace health problems in informal workplaces in Nigeria. Interviewing informal automobile artisans, this paper describes range of heavy drinking practices and workplace injuries and illnesses.
We encourage you to read these papers and those we are co-publishing in our two-part Special Issue: Alcohol Prevention Research and Policy Development in LMICs: Facilitating Partnerships, Capacity and Impact, and those in our the inaugural KBS 2023 Annual Symposium Issue which will become a regular feature and issue in IJADR. Please consider submitting your articles from the 2024 KBS symposium! Of course, submissions to our regular issues on social and epidemiological research on alcohol and other drugs, that foster comparative understanding of substance use and substance problems, are always welcome
